This past weekend the blogs and Pinterest boards were all aflutter with a new recipe for playdough. Now I've made playdough a hundred times over, but never has the recipe for creating this classic child's pastime included a box of Jell-o. Want to know why?

From the aptly named website, Playdough Recipe comes this easy to make playdough mixture. The changes from your more standard recipe are the addition of a box of store bought Jell-o gelatin.

Folks have been talking about how this recipe creates a slicker textured dough, unlike other homemade doughs that seem a bit more rough, even though they still hold together. This one feels more like the name brand version, Playdoh and even colors itself.

You can still add in extra food coloring and take extra care when heating the mixture as the Jell-o can burn easily, but your patience will be rewarded. Check out the full recipe and tips from Playdough Recipe.
