This is the shared studio of Lindye Galloway Design and Mark Brooke Photographers. Before they got to work, the space was a dark, plain interior with carpet from decades ago. But a couple months of elbow grease, and this labor of love space was transformed. The wall dividing the space was torn down, carpet ripped out, the floor painted glossy white, amazing built-ins created throughout the studio, and finally the space was furnished with inviting furniture and accessories.
Each of the built-ins – the encased flat panel TV, pipe bookcase, and custom desks with slat display overhead – were all handmade, creating a “nothing you have seen before” space. The wall of pages wallpaper were torn out of a book of famous quotes, and we filled the studio with accessories to speak to our brands. We consider this space to have three areas (four if you count the bathroom, but we won’t go there).
The first area is the meeting place, where our clients come to relax on the couch and chat. The second is the design area, which is where designing, sketching and tablescape mock-ups happen.
Lastly is our workspace, which as you can imagine, is where we get work done. And since there are a couple companies living in the space, we came up with some quick ideas to slightly change the room for each of our meetings. Our favorite is the wall of prints velcroed onto the wall; we can interchange the prints by simply pulling one off and putting another up. Well, that’s our studio!
