You may have seen this Parisian apartment while browsing the latest issue of Elle Decor, but for those of you who haven't, we'd like to share its eclectic appeal.
Designer Olivier Gagnère lives in a classic Left Bank Parisian apartment with high ceilings, gorgeous original moldings, and chevron hardwood floors. Gagnère has the good fortune of being an interior, furnishings, and accessories designer, so as expected, many of the pieces and scenes in his home are of his own design. There's an eclectic mix of natural textures such as leather and shell, and ethnic textiles, rugs, and artifacts. All of these elements are interspersed with modern pieces as well. We love how the home feels like a collection of objects genuinely built up over time. Matching is not the objective here. Gagnère has aimed to fill his space with things that he loves, and because he has stellar taste, they all come together to create a stunning home.

Shaw's Original Fir...
a bit bohemian... beautiful windows and vieuw!
bonne weekend,
desiree
I'm sure this is not the case, but it seems as though they are ashamed of their furniture...everything seems to be covered up! Of course the colors are beautiful and well put together, especially seeing as though there are SO many different patterns, but I would love to see some wood!
As someone who has not seen this in ElleDecor, thanks for sharing it here! Great apartment! This isn't exactly my style, but I still think there is some great inspiration here and I'm sure I'll be looking over these pictures in the future.
Wow... what a dramatic, lush, beautiful place. Thanks for sharing it!
So, who noticed the black crocodile pattern on kitchen cabinets and appliances? Holy moly! Not something I would ever do, but it did make my heart beat a little faster for a minute.
I love the paint color in the first image — it looks just like my freshly painted apartment! I used Benjamin Moore 'Pale Oak'.
Awe-some awesome awesome. Love almost everything (not a fan of the leopard print chairs) and would be so psyched to have an apartment like this. Oh, Paris!
After seeing this, I'd definitely say navy blue is a no-go color....yep....definitely
Personally, I adore the navy blue.
Does anyone know what the gray paint in the second picture is? I love it!
very sophisticated. makes me want to go out & purchase some blue & purple hydrangeas. love the use of quilts.
For some reason I feel like I'd never get to sleep in this place, but in a good way I guess.. kind of like Pee Wee's playhouse!
I love the navy blue and the gray paint choices. All together it is a bit multiple personality for me, but still nicely done.
@emmelemm: I might not have noticed that black croc kitchen had you not mentioned, but I actually kind of love it! Just not in this space and not with those counter tops.
uh, my fav is the dino with handcuffs on!
Lush, lively, love it.
Does anyone know the name of that beautiful grey paint?
I read this issue and this place was my favorite. I can't say I like everything, such as the animal prints...but what a fabulous collection of exotic textiles and rugs.
Love the bathroom. I could never live with the rest of it.
Did they source the living room rug? Covet!
I love, love, love the textiles in this home. I spent an hour just staring at this in Elle Decor the other day, this is my dream home.
And thank you codeislife, for that crucial piece of info :)
dinosaur. handcuffs.
:)
Beautiful windows...but I do not like any of the furnishings/textiles at all. This apt is just way too contempo for me.
Gorgeous, the first living room picture is heavenly to me. The mauve on the chairs, that orange striped bench....love!
This is the kind of apartment I would love to visit -- and I imagine it's a wonderful place for entertaining. There is so much to look at and so many unusual and artistic pieces. It is unique and quirky -- and I would assume reflects its owner's love of the exotic. Just being able to put so many unusual colors and patterns and styles together shows how masterful a designer and collector the owner is! Bravo!
SO BEAUTIFUL! I love the red t-rex...any ideas were i canget one?
!
I spent a month in Paris a number of years ago. This looks just like the street where I "lived" in a furnished studio not nearly so fabulous. I wish I could remember the name of the street, but it was closest to the "Ecole Militaire" station. I love the color and rich bohemian feel!
i like it 'how it all came together effect' and no kids in the house i guess!
Completely agree with missnic's comment. This home is over-stimulating.
Loving the gorgeous textiles and all the wall colors.
Too shaggy for me, too much stuff. Looks like somewhere a cat lady lives.
the black crocodile skin cabinets and the repeated leopard skin patterns aren't for me at all, but otherwise a very beautiful place!
Anyone have an idea how I can "borrow" the look of the main room without having the wonderful light from those windows (i.e., lighting that looks like natural light)?
