Growing up in Phoenix, no one really had summer homes (unless you count that neighbor with the pool whose house I was at every single day). Now that I live in San Francisco, I get the draw of the summer home as not only a way to escape the city, but also as a way to find some heat. If I had to pick a place to sojourn this July, this Danish home would be just the place.
Bathed in light and full of seating areas to soak in the summer sun, I could imagine days spent curled up reading good books and evenings spent on the porch sipping wine with good friends (without a cardigan!). Just looking at the images of this Danish home make the stresses of city living immediately wash away. It looks like I'm going to have to look into this summer home idea a bit more!
Do you have a summer home? What are your favorite memories there? If not, what would be your requirements for your perfect summer getaway?

Howard Butcher Bloc...
how funny that in SF people go outside the city to get warmer, and in NYC it is the complete opposite :) i'd kill for a small house out in sag harbor!
I once stayed a few days in a cabin on a mountain in Panama. It was peaceful, quiet, uncrowded, and naturally beautiful. It was my only foreign vacation where I tried to figure out how I could return there to live. That's the test of a perfect summer getaway for me.

That is because it is foggy and too cold for most during June and July, we really don't get "real" summer until late Aug-Sept. NYC is hot and humid during the summer and I think most locals want to escape that and head out where there is water and less humidity.
I would also kill for a small house in sag harbor :)
I would kill for a house in San Francisco! No I wouldn't KILL for it (I don't really like that expression) but I would certainly love it. Bring on the cold June & July. Sounds really good to me having just dealt with a 100 degree humid day in Boston (and the rest of the east coast has it much worse). Last year at this time we were having days in the mid-60s. That is my ideal summer.
I had to look up where Sag Harbor was???? ;)
sorry not a local.
I love this house by the way,
and yes I would also love a small house in sag harbor ;)
(I'm with you Charlotte)
Love the Danish house.
Hey, let's all get houses in Sag Harbor and have each other over for drinks!
