You scour markets for vintage caps, save up for the newest from Goorin Brothers, and regularly match your outfits to your fedoras. Why shove your beloved hats in a closet when you're not wearing them? Instead, make your place look hip and relaxed by displaying them around your home.
Whether you have three hats or twenty-three, you can easily leave them out as decoration. Hang them on a rack, stick them on a bookshelf, or hang them above a doorway. It's a clever way to open up storage space while creating a personalized, unique space.

my husband has so many cowboy hats and ballcaps. if only there was a way to make ballcaps look good....
really good idea! now i dont have to pile them and get them deformed! :)
I used to rent a mid-19th skinny rowhouse with an unlit narrow passage upstairs -- too dark for art, too narrow for books -- between the front bedroom (original part of the house) and the tiny back bedroom and bathroom (added later). I put up two rows of molding with Shaker pegs on either side and hung up my hat collection; wish I had a photo to share, they looked spectacular, Italian straw, feathers, etc.
Where is that bench from? I love it.
I do this! So exciting to see it mentioned here. I also hang up bags, scarves, and capes on my collapsible/expandable rack.
Smart, because by displaying cute hats in open storage you've freed concealed storage for less photogenic things.
I do this, too! I have a photo of how I use my favorite hat as art and also to cover up an eyesore in everyone's home. I must send it in soon! Nice to see other people keeping their hats on display.
