If you've been inspired by all of the great play kitchens we see here on Ohdeedoh, but just haven't had the time, take your time! This beauty took two years to complete, but was well worth the wait!
Sara and her husband worked on this on and off for a couple of years, and as they did, the project took on a life of its own. This is one complete kitchen, including microwave, fridge, and lots of sweet details, which- let's be honest, are kind of the reward of finishing the kitchen.
We love the painted numbers on the microwave and the fabric she choose for the sink skirt.
The lesson here is, even if a play kitchen can be finished in one weekend- you just might not get that stretch of time when you're taking care of babies and toddlers. But it can still be done! Sara's daughter received the kitchen for her third birthday- still plenty of good years of kitchen play ahead.
You can find more details and photos on Sara's website here.

White Enamel Flatwa...
perfect!
Wow - great job!
Tons of storage to hold all the items that go with the kitchen, levels to put things on, and not too babish so it will last a long time. I also like that it's been kept as it's natural wood instead of painted - makes it look that much better! I can see this being kept for a long time and becoming a family handmedown.
So much to play with!
Thanks, guys! It's right in my dining room...we're a super-casual family, so this fits for us, but I still needed it to be very simple and natural in terms of color so that it didn't overwhelm me or the room. Most importantly, she LOVES it and has been cooking up a storm! ;)
I remember as a kid i had a fisher price kitchen set. It was the first one to come out that light up and made noise when you turne don the water or the microwave. My neighbour had a home made wooden one that didnt have all the bells and whistles that mine did. Nevertheless, I was ALWAYS over there playing "restaurant" with her kitchen. I thought it was so much cooler than mine (My poor parents saved up big time formy fisher price kitchen too. Sorry Mom & Dad). Ever since then i have alwasy been inlove with these home made kitchen play sets. Great job! This one is gorgeous!
