Project by: Lindsay Pincus Design
Location: Seattle, Washington
I had been an interior designer in San Francisco, focusing on high end residences. But in July (at which time I was 7 months pregnant) life brought us to Seattle. Before re-launching professionally in my new market I had my most important client ever to take care of: my new baby boy. This is the nursery that I designed for little Bastian
To counterbalance the gray Seattle winter, I strove to create an overall feeling of brightness and warmth. My designs are always confident in color, and there was no holding back in the nursery. The playful and whimsical pattern (Duralee Fabric) used in the custom window treatments formed the basis of the color palette. While the room showcases an eclectic blend of styles with bright accents, the room feels wonderfully serene with the soft blue walls (Benjamin Moore Polar Ice), white dresser (PBteen) and Jenny Lind crib. As practical contrast to the bold window panels, the custom glider is upholstered in a Brunschwig & Fils french blue plaid fabric.
To bring the room together, I developed a "nautical" theme that played well with our newly adopted city of Seattle! Details showcasing this theme include the bright red painting of a ship (LuluDK) above the crib, the gold porthole mirror from One Kings Lane, and the star shaped ceiling light fixture as the "north star" (Circa Lighting). And of course, a few cuddly animal friends here and there for good baby measure.
