Fall is here in full force and pretty soon there will be more days spent indoors rather than out. To get ready consider doing a mini-renovation in your home to create a special play area.
For some of you, that might mean going up to create that secret place. For others with a multi-level house, it could mean the space under the staircase. We spotted this efficient and charming use of space over at Little Green Notebook. It's a perfect hidden spot for doing puzzles, reading, and all sorts of make believe. And when the kids are all grown and off to college, it becomes a great storage spot. For more details on this clever playroom, run over to Little Green Notebook.

Shaw's Original Fir...
A little HP, a lot awesome.
I've been thinking about this with the stairs down to our finished basement ever since I saw a similar play room online a couple months ago. The underside of our stairs currently connects to the unfinished portion of the basement (basically you can walk into that area from the back), but the wall that we would cut out is in the main finished area. It would not only be a great hiding area but also some easier-access storage after the kid was too old. I'm not sure I'll be able to resist when we have a kid!
Great idea. I would have loved to have gotten a look inside.
This is such a great idea! There's a Victorian version of this at http://www.ourvictorianhouse.com/clubhouse%20page.htm. It even has a cute little story to go with it.

Follow the link above and you can see pictures of the inside.

This would be extra awesome with a square window above the little door for more light and for an adult to check in without disturbing play.
