When setting up home, it sometimes happens that you find yourself without enough closet space. But if you can get your hands on some plumbing pipe and you're not shy about a little DIY, you can have yourself a stylish closet supplement in no time!
We are mesmerized by the execution and photography of this plumbing pipe clothing rack over at Other Blog. The result is an expensive, boutique look using simple, inexpensive, and readily-available parts from Home Depot.

Shaw's Original Fir...
I am going to do this this weekend.
Hi, this is Mike (creator of Other Blog and contributor for Unplggd).
Thank you for featuring my clothing rack. I'd be happy to answer any questions if there are any.
This clothes rack is just what I need! How would one go about constructing the base?
Such a great idea. Plus, it looks way better than those plain plastic racks sold at the stores.
Love it, so simple and rugged and at the same time, elegant!
The base is also made with plumbing pipes. You end the larger pipes going towards the ground with a "T" connector. Attach two 5" pipe on either side of the "T" With an elbow. Then attach a connector pipe which is simply threaded on both ends to the elbow and then to a flange which rests on the floor as the sturdy base.
It's similar to this base: http://ny-image0.etsy.com/il_570xN.208785144.jpg
Ah!! the answer to my gust-room clothing storage dilemma. Merci!
I love plumbing pipes. We used them for handrails coming up the front steps.
Next week on AT:
Creative reuse for dusty, sun-faded clothing!
Had this up for 2 years and my clothes are actually fine. ;)
Love those curtains...kitchen towels?
Yep!
Where do I get the plumbing pipes? Just the hardware store?
Loving the industrial look!
(Now, you might consider picking up those stacks of books off the floor and building a plumbing pipe bookcase... one was featured on AT a while back.)
Anyway, great job!
@alyssasteffes: yes! Just be sure to wash them down before use..
@pippigirl: books are now happily on shelves. I've moved on to a new apartment. :)
mike, when will we see pictures of the new place?! can't wait
Mike, where did you get your hangers? They're perfect.

I really loved reading your blog. It was very well authored and easy to understand. Unlike additional blogs I have read which are really not that good .No doubt it's really a great article and I felt really great going through your blog post. Great to read more articles from your side.
