Despite the name, the Record Cabinet by Atocha isn't just for vinyl junkies. With several configurations offering storage for audio components, DVDs and CDs in various sizes and materials, the tastefully designed cabinet would make a great centerpiece for your audio setup.

The Atocha Record Cabinet is handcrafted in the USA to hold up to 570 LPs with six LP drawers and 300 CDs with 4 CD drawers. Plenty for the average collector (though just the start for a passionate wax junkie). Cabinets are available in a selection of sustainable and renewable American Maple, American Oak, American Walnut and American Cherry, with custom made modern solid brass drawer pulls (other pull designs available) and under mounted drawer slides for easy and quiet access to your music collection. Prices are definitely not in your IKEA league (for example, the 6 LP/4 CD drawer configuration is priced at $5,900), but at the same time, you're purchasing an heirloom sort of piece to pass along with your record collection when the time arrives. I would love it if Unplgged could find some stylish record album storage solutions that don't involve buying new furniture. I've looked and keep coming up empty except for some boring and not too stylish storage boxes from the Container Store.

dmstudio: a few years back I took a curbside throwaway and <A href=http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/la/jan-jumpstart-2008-news/gregorys-project-the-stereo-cabinet-7-moving-on-041778>converted it into a beloved piece where I store my personal collection. Many times local Goodwill or thriftstores will offer similar vintage furniture on the cheap to convert into storage solutions.

Thanks for the suggestion Gregory. I probably should have worded my comment to state that I'd love some solutions that don't involve buying any furniture new, thrift or curbside. I just don't have the room for any more furniture but would like something more upscale than than a cardboard box that I can tuck under an existing table or neatly in a closet.

For less than a 3rd of that I can employ a local carpenter and get a beautiful custom cabinet made that would actually store my components as well. Seriously.

Swanky. I see the appeal of drawers because like crates you can flip through the vinyl from the top. Keeps them safe from the elements/animals/kids too. But yeah, out of my price range for the moment. And here's me thinking Dual SF units are pricey ; D

I use an Ikea Markor which is perfect for a dj turntable setup on top, has 10 square shelves perfect for 12"s, and is $220. The rest of my vinyl goes in cheapo Expedit bookshelves.
