A few years ago Jen gave birth to her son Sam, and her Aunt Mary sent her a red washcloth. She advised Jen to keep it in case of a cut, so that Sam wouldn't freak out at the sight of his own blood. Jen stashed it in the bathroom closet and didn't give it much thought.
Fast-forward four years to last week, when Sam got a cut on his face and lost it when he saw the blood. Jen remembered the washcloth and had Sam hold it to his face. When he calmed down and pulled the washcloth away, he decided that he was all better. The sight of a light colored bloodstained washcloth would have surely set him off, but the red washcloth saved the day and Jen declared her Aunt Mary a genius.
