Ashley and Aron live the life of adventurers. Home base is a 500 square foot studio apartment in New York City. Their space wasn't exactly suited to welcome a third person — until they re-envisioned the nook.
Baby Hudson now has a clean and modern place to lay his head and call his own. The warm yellow and emerald-hued animal wallpaper are completely brilliant together. Bloom's Alma Mini Crib fits perfectly in this teeny space.
Baby Mine has since merged with its parent blog. You can read about Ashley and Aron's house hunting, globetrotting parenting style at Hither and Thither.

This is so lovely! May I wish Hudson a long and healthy life! Congratulations!
The space is cute and a clever use of space...but that baby!! So precious! 'sigh'
Adorable, just looks like such a temporary solution with such a small crib. It seems like extra trouble to me to keep re-doing spaces as a baby grows.
I'd have loved to see how this crib space fits in with the rest of the room!
What KRIKKIT said. I think it is lovely but I did not put any effort into our nook for my baby because I knew it was temporary & could not afford to spend so much on something temporary. CUTE baby though!
Thanks for the nice feature! What a surprise! Inspired, I posted an update today (http://www.hitherandthither.net/2012/04/mini-crib-update.html) showing how Hudson is fitting in at nine months. We will be in this apartment until he is just over a year and I would have been a bit sad not to partake in any of the joy of creating a nursery, so I'm glad we were able to do something special--though I do wish the Fern Living wallpaper came in a removable option (wallpaper brands for kids...take note!). The crib itself is rated in Europe up to two years but advertised here for up to a year. I think a year (maybe 14 months) is about right. I was able to buy this one used--which I imagine would be easy to do in cities with abundant small apartments.
Here's a link to photos of the entire apartment--you can see how the space connects (the door beside the bed): http://www.hitherandthither.net/2012/03/apartment-tour-and-some-news.html. And just in case (sorry), I can't help but mention that the sale listing for the apartment is going live today and that I'll be posting the listing tomorrow. Just in case...
Thanks again! (Beaming about the cute baby comments :)
LOVE that wallpaper! Going to check out their blog now! :)
Nicely done!
My inner math nerd informs me that's at least 12 square feet. Twice the space! Huge! :)
I love it. It's clean, it's cute, and it gets the job done with minimal fuss.
Temporary or not - it is amazing! And it gives people like myself who are also about to have a baby in a one bedroom apartment inspiration, I also have a nook that I have in mind for the crib and I love Bloom products. So kudos! to you! And thanks for the 9 month update. I am less stressed now seeing what can and can not be done - I think it is all about what you make of a space.
So great to see an amazing baby setup in something other than a dedicated room. Us city dwellers don't have the space for a "nursery" and I wish AT showcased more situations like this. It's such a creative use of the space.
Thank you so much for the info on the mini crib HITHERANDTHITHER. We're expecting a baby in July and have very little space, and I really want the minicrib, but can't decide if it's worth it.
