I have heard it called a study, office, or even a craft room but I call mine a den. One goal I have for this new year is to get my den finished and organized. I have a tendency to shove things in drawers and keep unnecessary papers and mail. I could use some tips for keeping an organized space!
Whatever your needs may be with the more utilitarian rooms of your home, the bottom line is don't close yourself in with clutter and unused storage. Streamlined, smoothly functioning style is a good goal to have.

An interior designer once told me it's not "feng shu to have your desk facing a wall. It make it difficult to get your thoughts out.
In my home office I have my desk facing out and my back is facing the wall.
I'm much more creative this way, really.
I get just as little work done no matter which way my desk is facing. I can move my desk around all day and not get any work done.
It certainly is hard to get anything done while moving your desk.
Personally, my trouble is actually getting myself to sit down at it, no matter which way it's facing. Butt in chair is problem No. 1.
You people crack me up!
