This is the first I have ever heard of this "hash" it sounds awful! If you want to punish yourself with a real Irish dish try coddle :P I would opt for some colcannon and maybe a little bit of bacon with it, that would be a truer Irish brunch, although in truth the nearest thing you would have gotten to brunch up until recently in Ireland was the big breakfast you got after mass on a Sunday.
i am making boxty with bacon and cremini mushrooms this morning; i think my ancestors would approve! :-)
