It's been really inspiring to me how much we've all embraced spring cleaning this year. Even when I've given you permission to take a day off — like when you've recently cleaned your kitchen cabinets or because you don't have a dishwasher — I've seen you chiming in, finding something else to tackle that day in the name of a cleaner, refreshed home for the sunny season.

So it's a little bittersweet that today is the final day in our homekeeping adventure, but I have an assignment that feels like just the perfect thing. It's like polishing your jewelry, and it'll be the final touch on your newly restored space.

TODAY'S 20-MINUTE TASK

Wipe Down Your Doors and Doorknobs

Assemble a toteable kit of three things: something to dust with, something to wipe with, and a disinfecting cleaning solution. Then walk around to each of your interior doors and tackle the same quick routine:

  • Dust around the door frame and on top of the door.
  • Wipe down each side of the door and the door frame with either a wet cloth, or (if your doors are especially grimy) a cloth with a bit of all-purpose cleaner.
  • Clean the door knobs with a disinfecting solution—make sure to use the right cleaner for the material your knobs are made out of. (For instance, brass will do best with a special brass cleaner you can pick up at a home store.)

Repeat as needed for the doors inside your home, then marvel at how sparkling clean your space looks!

And with that, I'm excited to say... we're done with spring cleaning! How did the whole thing go for you?

If you've missed any assignments along the way, don't sweat it. You can always come back to the Spring Cleaning 2017 page and take on any tasks you might have overlooked. And, of course, hop into the comments right here and let us know what you thought about the program!
