Grandma was right! It turns out a teaspoon of honey works better than cough medicine or no treatment at all, according to a study recently published in the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.
Honey right before bed may calm children's coughs by coating and soothing an irritated throat. We all recall the recent FDA warnings against using over-the-counter cough and cold medicines for kids younger than 6 years old. But remember that honey should never be given to babies under 1 year old because of the risk of botulism.
We remember looking forward to a yummy spoonful of honey at bedtime whenever our throat was scratchy. Go here to read more.

Nomade Express Slee...
I've never stopped at 1 tsp in my life.
Heh, Lady J.
This is really interesting -- and helpful! -- to know. Thanks!
Huh. I never knew. Thanks.
My aunt was just telling me the other day that her allergist recommended the same thing. He specified that she should have local honey - it has helped her quite a bit.
