Speaking from experience, sharing a bedroom as a little kid isn't that big of a deal and many kids find it to be quite fun. But sharing a room as a teen is a different story. If the room is large enough using tall wardrobes to divide the space is a smart solution. Tall wardrobes not only create some modicum of privacy but, of course, are functional storage space. Above is the shared bedroom of Valter (17) and Ivan (14) in Sweden divided up by Ikea wardrobes. Their mother admits that they take away some of the charm and airiness of the room, but to her it was a better alternative than building a more permanent partition.
You can see lots more of this shared boys' room on Hus & Hem.
