A Thrifty Website For the Last Minute Spring Breaker

Temperatures in many parts of the country have been decidedly un-spring like. I'm still sporting my parka in the upper Midwest and every morning I think: "Why didn't I go on that spring break?" Well, this handy new site may convince me to take that last minute trip.

Everyone already knows the big names online when it comes to travel. But have you heard of Nowcation? The premise is pretty simple: you want to go on a vacation, and you want to go there now. All you have to do is pick your closest city and it loads the best deals for flights and hotel packages from there.

For example, checking deals from Minneapolis to New York City, a deal for a 4-night stay can be had for $548 roundtrip with accommodations (the super low $41/night hotel is at the airport).

None of the deals are booked through Nowcation (in the example above, users are redirected to Expedia), so you'll be rerouted to another travel site to complete the transaction, but if you're looking for a fast way to scan the best deals from your home airport, this is a quick and efficient way to do it.

And for less hurried travel plans, remember to check out our roundup of tablet app travel planners. There are similar bargains to be had (perhaps as not last second) available when using apps for flight, accommodation, and transportation deals.
