By now you know that one way to make inexpensive forward-facing bookshelves is to use IKEA Bekvam spice racks. All wood shelves for less than $4 a piece - that's hard to beat. But what if you don't have the wall space to spare? Katie of On The Banks Of Squaw Creek has the solution.
Rather than affixing the shelves to a wall, attach them to a sturdy piece of furniture. In her case, Katie added 8 Bekvam spice racks to each side of a dresser. So one piece of furniture holds clothes plus displays and stores books. It's genius. To read up on how she did it, check out Katie over at her blog On The Banks Of Squaw Creek.

That's brilliant.

I just wanted to quote that in its entirety...its the absolute truth. Really clever idea, nonetheless
This is one idea I will definitely be copying!
Painted the appropriate colors, this would look like a giant kid's xylophone . . . Its cute!
