Although many of us love the look of a big giant magnetic chalkboard wall, it always seems like we should be able to make them do more for us (if only they knew how to do laundry). This family turned an unassuming wall in their laundry room into a most spectacular place for an advent calendar!

Although we've seen more than our share of advent calender ideas this year, this version has to be our favorite thus far. Small boxes were affixed with magnets and then painted. The result is a stick up advent calender that doesn't require strings, nails or anything of the sort.

There are all sorts of places the imagination might run with this idea for everyday use, not just the holidays. Why not make prize boxes to be opened after daily chores are done or even hide chores inside the boxes themselves, making the work to be done a mystery!
