Up here in the Pacific Northwest winter is just around the corner. This cooler weather has me thinking about fireplaces, comfy couches and the holiday season. A blazing fire on a cold night is literally a great way to warm up a room. What about decor, colors, and textures — can they also warm up a room?
I personally love wood grain, it has a way of making a room feel warmer. What are some of your tips or tricks used to warm up your home?

Shaw's Original Fir...
Love the gun lamp and sofa. Ah, to have my own living room........
Excellent choice of sofa.
If someone wants a similar sofa that's more affordable/accessible - This is a very interesting choice:

That sofa is gorgeous, but when horchow is considered a more affordible choice- ouch
I'd call it "cool" but not at all "warm".
Thanks for the link bepsf! I love that horchow sofa, it's got the updated look that I understand, paired with this retro feel that my husband craves. It would go so well in my living room!
What in the world is warm or inviting about a lamp shaped like a gun?!?
I do agree with you that wood grain warms a room right up, though. If it were my room, I'd change the color of the sofa to a warmer color (brick red, maybe?) and add a quilt on the wall. Nothing like fabric accessories to warm up a space.
"WhyLighting", why, why? (yick.)
so of course, pardon me! & i warmed up to this lamp + now like it more; what if shade was inverted, smoked glass maybe, or even just a large round bulb.
