With the trend of kitchen computers popping up everywhere, we think this meal-planning site could take off with home chefs.
Cooking By Numbers is your own personal meal planner. Only instead of prepping a three course meal, Cooking By Numbers is going to help you get through the last days before your next grocery store trip.
When your pantry starts to look like a barren wasteland, head over to the site and tell the automagic cooking elf what you've got left by checking off their list of ingredients. Cooking By Numbers will return a list of recipes that you have all or most of the ingredients to make, listed according to how whole your meal will be.
Let technology help clear out your cupboards and you might be able to extend your weekly grocery trip—and save money while you do it!

another site like this is Supercook. Just type in what you have and recipes pop up! Definitely nice for the end of the week; or, in my case, those of us who aren't sure how to "throw stuff together" no matter how much is in the cupboard.
I totally had this idea! Man...wish I'd said something back when I thought of it. But I guess either way I'm glad someone actually created this service, so useful for those of us in small households that rack up a lot of leftover ingredients. And @mdevans - thanks for that additional site, it looks a little more robust.
I like the idea of that site, but the majority of what I eat is not listed on their cook ticky boxes.
The Betty Crocker website did the same thing many years ago. I got one or two good recipes from it. But I'll check out this one, too.
Okay, I just checked it out, and it didn't come up with anything that I couldn't have on my own.
I went visited both the Cooking by Numbers site and the Supercook site that mdevans mentions and found Supercook to be a much better resource.
Alas, not a vegetarian-friendly website. I should've known when there was one box for "vegetables." Perhaps Supercook is better?
