What could be more inspirational for an artist than to nestle one's studio space in a completely organic, natural setting? This 1,250 square foot studio space is located on a 3.4 acre piece of land on San Juan Island in Washington.
Designed by Prentiss Architects, the cabin was commissioned as a studio space for a textile artist and her husband who were considering a full-time move to the island. Containing looms, dying facilities, a sewing/assembly area, and an office, the cabin is stacked full of all the necessary amenities for a working artist. The space even contains an open gallery to display artworks and textile pieces.

White Enamel Flatwa...
Wow, simply wow. I would take it at even 600 sq ft!
I will stand in line behind TEAKFREAK. Just lovely. Those windows, that ocean. AHHH!
We love summer weekends on Orcas!!! Lovely studio! Please tell: who did the track lighting? Or where was it purchased?
Thanks!
I grew up with a summer place on Decatur Island (a few islands over), and miss the vistas and fresh air and water surrounding the San Juans. The design looks perfect to me.
I could live full time on 3.4 acres in a 1,250sf "studio".
I guess that's the plan?
WooEEE...nice set up.
Thanks for all the kind comments - this project was so much fun. The track lighting is by Translite Systems: http://www.translite.com/index.jsp?A=254&B=400&C=404.

I live on San Juan Island it definitely is picturesque and earthy, this cabin is a great example of the kind of variety, craftsmen ship and quirkiness that appears here.
Beautifully executed. Lucky ducks.
