So, while we were getting out our Christmas decorations the other week, our two-year old found the plastic Easter eggs in the holiday bin and decided she had to go outside and hunt for eggs. What seemed a little crazy at first, turned out to be a pretty good idea.
Even though it's colder outside now, we still have to get out for some fresh air every day, and this activity kept her busy in one location for a good half hour.
We bundled up in down coats and then she carried her basket with about six eggs- we kept it small- downstairs to the front of our building. (So, no, you don't even need your own backyard for this) There's a little landscaped area in the back with a bench that turned out to be perfect for a hunt on a cold day. If you don't want your neighbors to look at you as strangely as ours did, you could always hunt for something else- like painted pine cones or even blocks.
