Name: Ryann (2)
Location: Overland Park, Kansas
When I first started designing Ryann's nursery, I knew I didn't want it to feel 'babyish'. Pastels and cutesy themes just aren't my thing.
Plus I wanted her to be able to grow with it a bit. We opted for neutral walls, with a stencil for a little bit of interest, and from there I just found fabrics I loved and ran with them.
Thanks Ashley! Readers, you can see more of Ryann's room on The Domestic Wannabe.

Beautiful palette! When I saw the first photo, I thought, "Love that wallpaper!" Reading this was a homemade stencil makes it even more impressive.
Gorgeous room. I've never seen curtains like that. Nice textures, lovely colors.
This is how it is done. A sophistocated palette yet enough color not to bore the poor kid.
You did a GREAT job!
Love this color scheme. I've been contemplating using this in my living room but with a brighter yellow.
I like it. I love the rug too.
Very nice. Good use of color, texture, and pattern but not too busy.
This is lovely! And I wish I had those curtains when I was a child - or now!
Thank you for all the kind comments! And yes, Ryann is indeed 2 years old. Just haven't quite moved her out of the crib yet, and just finally got around to submitting pictures. I designed the nursery in 2010.
Sweet room. The yellow and grey is such a nice combo. Love the curtains.
Still, I find it amusing to see all the wonderful children's rooms here and remember what happens when children reach their teens. Sometimes sooner than that, if you happen to get children with strong opinions about what they like and dislike.
I suppose some people are lucky enough to have children with taste that agrees with their own. Hypothetically.
This is a really sweet combination of colors. You've done the kid-friendly version of yellow and gray, so it looks lived-in and cozy, like some place you'd actually want to spend with your child, rather than a page out of a catalog. Also, fabrics are changeable. Good thinkin'!
Great job! I love the stencil work. Curious where the rug and curtains are from?
My daughter was in her crib until she was 3 and honestly we only moved her out then because a sibling was on the way. So nice to wait until they are older, more ready--makes it an easy transition.
Love yellow and gray combo. Love this room!
Oh! I need those curtains in my bedroom immediately..! Where did you get them?
The curtains were from Urban Outfitters, the rug was from Anthropologie.
Fabulous!
Is the curtain Waterfall Ruffle Curtain in ivory from Urban Outfitters?
