Name: Aashi Bea (10 months)
Location: Chicago, IL
Our daughter's "patchwork playful" room came together organically through time and gifts from others, but echoes her patchwork identity, which is a combination of Indian, Filipino, Italian and Spanish.
The room itself is just 10' x 11', with two walls entirely taken up by white closet doors and windows, so we essentially had a box with two walls to work with. To contrast the window and closet doors and moldings, we painted the room a gray/brown that we used in other parts of our house (Benjamin Moore Taos Taupe), a color that allows for accent colors to really pop. We also picked this color beause of its neutrality and ability to accomodate to both sexes (just trying to think ahead!), while also appealing to future buyers.
The room started out as a gray/brown box, but with the patchwork colors and accents, it really comes to life and really suits Aashi's happy personality, so we enjoy spending time there with her. We hope that Aashi's growing collection of goodies will continue to adding to, and emphasizing, her patchwork and playful identity!

White Enamel Flatwa...
So pretty!
I love that paint color. What is it? It looks coffee/chalkboard.
Another gorgeous rug in a nursery. Jealous!
I love it! So peaceful, warm and modern at the same time. Very tastefully done!
Wow, I really love this. I never would have thought of using such a dark paint color in a nursery, but with all the bright pops of color, it really works. The space is both cozy and happy.
Great job! Thanks for sharing.
Wondering how hard it was to make the letters in the baby's name. They look so smooth and professionally done. I also love the quilt on the glider.
Thanks everyone! Duane, the paint color is Benjamin Moore Taos Taupe. It looks different in all parts of our house, but in this room, it comes off as a muddy brown color because of all the sunlight coming in. In darker rooms, it looks like a dark grey.
Alisheeba - I wish I made those letters! They are from Anthropologie, we just made the backboard for them.
Love, love, love that color scheme. Really well put-together nursery!
Who knew gray walls could be so warm and inviting? This paint color is fantastic!
Such a cute room with a great color palette!
I love your glider! Is it by Little Castle?
LizzyLou - I think you might be right about Little Castle :)
KeyaMilla- I thought it might be! I've clearly been spending too much time glider shopping! This fabric combo is super cute.
Love how pretty this is without being too girly!! I'm expecting a little girl and am also aiming for something that could eventually work for co-ed rooming as well. I do have one question- I am going to use the same ikea bookshelf for storage as well as a changing table, however all the changing pads I've seen are too wide! Can you let me know where you got yours? It looks like the perfect size.
Hi HDBEAR! The changing pad and cover are from The Land of Nod. Have fun decorating!
