Taking adornment to another level, we are happy to introduce you to Queens-based artist, Deborah Grumet. Not only are her posters very cool looking, but they're also educational. For example, one of her newest posters, Sounds of Picasso, is based on Picasso's Guernica. Deborah of course, saw Guernica as the perfect way to teach children animal sounds. We love the final product.

Counting Monsters is another new one. The numbers correspond to the number of eyes on each monster. What child could resist learning to count?

The ABC's of art was Deborah's first poster. Each letter is drawn in the style of an arist whose name begins with that letter. D is for Salvador Dali, G for Edward Gorey, and V for Van Gogh. You get the idea.

Finally, there is the alphabet of onomatopoeia. This one has a more comic strip vibe. Go to Deborah's website to order. Which one's your favorite?

Is it just me, but does trying to teach children what sounds cow and chickens make from a painting depicting the Nazi bombing of Guernica, Spain really creepy? I don't think that defacing that painting with "cock-a-doodle-doo" is appropriate. Next let's teach kids how to count by numbering all the flies walking in and out of a starving kid's mouth. CUTE!
