Abigail's Yellow & Grey DIY Nursery

My Room

Name: Abigail (1 month)
Location: Missoula, MT

My inspiration for our nursery came from the kitchen towel aisle of Target. Yes, you read that correctly. I just happened to be meandering down the aisle one day when a set of DwellStudio kitchen towels caught my eye; it was the most genius use of yellows and greys!

And a little bit further down there was a matching tablecloth that just got my wheels-a-turning. I purchased both items and just knew that the nursery would be a mix of whites, yellows and greys. And why not some peacock blue for good measure?

I wanted to DIY as much as I could in the room, so most of it was homemade. I even made the tablecloth into the hamper liner, wall art and the crib skirt. I was also on strict orders not to paint walls or murals (as I originally wanted to)...because someone in this marriage needs to be practical I guess.

So the goal was to create a comforting, inviting space for our new addition that (a) didn't break the bank (b) wouldn't alter the room entirely and (c) would allow me to be creative and create many of the elements on my own.

While I still wish I could have painted the trim at least, I'm quite happy with how the room turned out. We decided to keep the queen-sized bed in the nursery for those late night feedings (the nursery is on the second floor and the master is on the first). We think it might come in hand for the first year or so. Down the road I imagine removing the bed and creating a fun play/reading area.

Thanks Janna! Readers, see more of Abigail's room at TWSST (and check out her sources here).
