- What I Love About My Small Home:
- I obviously like plants, so the afternoon light and the huge windows do the trick! I like having a workspace at home too, and a lot of my furniture is on wheels, so it's pretty easy to push everything out of the way and spread out a bit for larger projects. I like that the space is always evolving and doesn't take itself too seriously.
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- The biggest challenge is always finding or making the right thing for the right place. I made the black ottoman in the living room and it's pretty big. Now it's about finding the right table to balance it all out. It's so hard! I also wanted to separate the bedroom from the rest, so i sewed several curtains into large panels and dip dyed them.
I'm currently trying to find a solution to all the broken blinds on the huge windows. It's always an ongoing process, and I enjoy that!

I never thought I would "favorite" a place with a denim patchwork couch, but it works, and I love it!
Good job on keeping plants alive!
WOW all that LIGHT!
This place has so much personality. The plants really bring it all together.
that latch hook wall hanging in the bedroom is amazing!!!
What fantastic light you have! I love an apt full of plants. And I love how you have arranged your furniture and zones in such an odd layout.
I love your place. Fantastic job!
This place is the bomb! One of my all-time faves on this site ever, small cool or not. What a joyful, exquisite eye you have!
I would quite happily live in this place, although my black thumb wouldn't get along too well with the plants.
I want to see a close-up view of the wall treatment behind the tv. Looks great!
Love it!
Could you do a House Tour one of these days?
What's the neighborhood in LA?
Wow, love your place. Would love to see a full tour!
Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my GOD.
This is amazing! Plants! Light! I feel relaxed just looking at pictures.
@Alphabear... heehee!
THE. BEST. APARTMENT. so beautiful
I have always been afraid of a huge loft- how would you fill it to make it feel homey? But you have done an amazing job without taking away from the loft feel!
I am pretty sure we have seen a full tour of this one before! I'm on a phone or else I'd search for you guys. Such a great place!!
Beautiful!!!!!!!!
Did you paint that chevron-y wall mural yourself? Please tell us more about it!
I love the hanging textile art! Is that from someone local?
My God! Where did you get that black and white geometric tapestry? I love this place!
@dustinstruckmeyer: thanks! it's actually a fleece knot rug i made a few years ago.
@Earthy Cruncher: thank you! there was a tour a while ago. there are a few changes. i live in the fashion district downtown
@nomadchicky: My ex painted it while i was out of town. it was a lovely surprise! it was inspired by a pattern on some fabric we had.
thanks all!
@pleiovn: I painted it and wore it on halloween as a poncho. i was a Frank Stella of course!
Love love love! And I generally don't go for the loft kind. Where did that arch lamp come from? Is it beaded? Wonderful!
Fabulous place. Normally I find lofts in that style too industrial to be cozy, but with all the comfort fabrics and the light and above all the plants, you've softened it and made it feel welcoming and livable.
Keep on trying - your space offers so many possibilities!
You seem to be inspired by the japanese architects 'Sanaa' s (Sejima And Nishizawa And Associates) way to use plants. The whole space is airy and light - very nice!
But (olie but goldie...) - where do you store your things?
I absolutely love this one. The plants are gorgeous.
Looking at your home made me happy, so full of light, love and joy - good work!
I love this apartment!
First comment just to say I LOVE this space.
I really appreciate how you divided up the space and I respect your plants. I only have one and it's a battle to keep it alive.
full house tour is called: Adam & Daniel's "Boclectic Craftern" Loft
beautiful space and i really like the changes you made — the wall hanging moved over the bed and the curtain dividing the bedroom. bravo!
What's the name of the plant in the big terracotta pot? Abundance of talent evident here:) Love it (bit jelly of your "making" skills tho) :P
936 isn't small! I really am usually only interested in the smaller submission, but Adam, kudos to you. What a lovely, lovely (and livable) space. Très jolie.
Oh.
my.
God.
Wow.
WOW!
This is amazing!
Love all the light and the openness of the floor plan. Looks like a happy place to live and just hang out. Great job Adam!! :o)
@crazydoglady: my friend put the lucite shade of one lamp on the base of an arch lamp.
@FWUFFY: it's a fig. the top died out, but it came back through the trunk! I've had this one for MANY years. just noticed a new leaf today.
So flattered by everyone's kind words! Thanks!
There is just enough of the 1970s in this place to make me believe the decade was as groovy as this place looks right now. (Well, almost. It would help if I couldn't remember my parents' house from the time, but unfortunately...)
This is the only apartment that has moved me to comment. I love it!
I share your love for plants (except I have north-facing windows, dammit) and the olors are absolutely incredible. This is awesome!
Finally a PoMid-Century apt!
Love your floor plan!
I love the plant sitting in a bag hooked over a paintbrush balanced on a beam. Genius! The greens go well with that darker wall and all the white light.
@alphabear ha ha!
Am I the only one who recognises elements of this flat?. From a year or so ago, a tour. It was a two boys in love and a cute little dog, with a gorgeous handmade denim lounge cover. So similar, but like a single persons place now. Whatever, still gorgeous.
Just re read comments, the original post was: Adam & Daniel's "Boclectic Craftern" Loft
Good luck to these boys.
I am drooling with envy.
This is truly original. Love the knotted rug, the colour of the bedroom wall, how well the plants soften the concrete floor and pipes. Hard to believe there is anything to fix at all in this apartment.
Plus the bathroom looks completely modern from what I can I tell. Stepping through the doorway would feel like entering you were entering not just a different room, but a different apartment or era. Kudos.
When you are ready to do a week long swap- NY for LA, hit me back. What a great space! Feng Shui and wabi sabi. Lovely!
What a great feeeling your home has. One of a kind. Love it all, especially the plants, the light, the wall hangings, the spacing of the furniture...You've got to be one cool dude.
Totally inspiring me to go out and buy some (baby, dog and cat friendly) plants!
I really, really want to throw a pot luck dinner party here and play records while lounging on huge pillows. This one evokes a feeling more than any of the other entries. The epitome of boho cool. Bravo!
Totally agree CSC76 and Disco&Diamonds this place hits a great balance! Its got the right amount of grooviness without being too kitschy. And seems like a great place just to hang out and drink sangria.

Beautiful place. Creative textiles, lovely plants, amazing light. Perfect place.
Hi! I love your place, I wanted to ask; what type of wire/hanging system did you use to hang the curtains? I am looking to do the same thing in my apartment.
Thanks and good luck.
Thanks @desertflower. It's the cable system from Ikea. The first time I've used it and they're pretty awesome. Simple and clean
Love this! What is the color of the paint behind your bed?
thanks! @GEEKYFEMME if i remember right its Behr marine magic
I have definitely seen this place on AT before - can't remember if it was an entry last year or if there was a house tour. Either way, it's one of my FAVORITE spaces on planet Earth. I swear to you, someday I will paint a wall like that because it is totally brilliant.
Is that couch made from denim fabric?!!!
COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!
I think I pinned this on Pinterest a few weeks ago and you're right in LA! I love your apartment, the perfect blend of modern, art, nature, and lots and lots of light!
This is, by far, one of my very favorite on AT. Beautiful.
