Though neutral seating is by far the more popular option, some brave souls choose instead to design around a startling pop of color as the anchor in a room. Soft upholstered furniture can be especially beautiful in a bright and vibrant hue, offering a one of kind flair to any room. With the sunny days of spring finally arrived, here is a selection of wonderful yellow seating to inspire the color-lovers among us.
Photo 1: There is so much to love in this small corner of a room- the wood floors, the marble fireplace, the deep teal curtains, the soft lilac walls. The highlights of this fabulous space though is the bright yellow pop of that velvet Chesterfield chair. It grabs the eye and doesn't let go- a strong focal point in a room full of wonderful touches.
Photo 2: This fabulous room achieves high drama with the stark black, white, and grey color scheme. The hard edges and reflective monotones are a sharp contrast to the curvy, overstuffed yellow couch that saves the room from boredom.
Photo 3: The brown walls of this living room form a strong dark background for the art and accessories, but it is the light yellow couch that adds the essential brightness pull the whole room together with warmth and comfort.

Am I the only tired of the term "pop of color"?
No, KaBoom, you are not.
I love the second pic though. It seems to make an appearance quite regularly around these parts.
Photo 2 looks like a black & white shot with a photoshoped yellow couch for effect. Amazing architecture but I'd like to see more than ONE color "pop" in that room. (I'd still like to live there of course).

HA! It does. I love looking at that picture. It might have something to do with it being very similar to my own home's color scheme.
I always love the yellow objects and furniture on the decoration. It is very vividly and joyful.
I don't like any of the images above. but I do like these:

I'm reminded of a young man's comment months ago that his mom had so many pets and kids that her home was like a barn. It turned out I'm not good at training my dogs. So, to keep my beloved dogs and myself happy I've lowered my housekeeping standards and stopped buying things like these chairs. Think twice before getting dogs if you already love pretty, delicate furnishings!
Photo one: Christmas tree? I'm confused.
I suspect it was Christmas time when the first picture was taken. With the purple walls and blue curtains, it definitely needs that bright yellow chair.
I agree with ElaneB, picture #2 looks photoshoped. I think if there were more than the one single color item in the otherwise black-and-white room...
I so want to plop into that yellow chair. Tufted velvet = swoon!
I love the chair and curtains in photo #1.
the 2nd pic is a popular shot from Domino's tour of Jenna Lyons' (of JCrew) Brooklyn brownstone. They apparently "styled" the living room for it.

Jenna Lyons' home inspired me to step away from the catalogue and decorate with inspiration.
where is that chair from? the link doesn't take me there. i really really want that yellow velvet chair in photo one. help!!!!
ironic enough, i'm having 2 identical vintage yellow wingchairs delivered to me this weekend through a craigslist post.
score!
