Project by: Alexandra Barker of Barker Freeman Design Office
This loft duplex had a big double height space over the living room on the lower level. The owners were expecting their second child and wanted to add a room on the upper level next to their bedroom that could accommodate both children without sacrificing the loftlike feel of the double height space and the views between the floors.
We proposed to add a new room into the open space that would be elevated above the upper floor so that views between the floors would be preserved. In addition, we added a glass transom to the top of the room so that the new volume appears to float in the existing space.
