This weekend is one of our favorites of the year — setting the clocks forward to gain the extra hour of light in the evening, yay! That combined with seeing buds on the forsythia bushes around the 'hood has us in the mood for adding some spring color to our winter white palette.

These photos from Light Locations have us captivated. We remember this particular house — in fact it's where we first saw the blue painted staircase from our post on painted stair runners. Back then, the house was mostly decorated in cool whites and Swedish blues. But last fall they added shots of color to some rooms — moved furniture around a bit and brightened it up. We love this bedroom so much it was our desktop photo for February and made us smile through the end of winter.

I wish they kept the 'before' photos, but while they actually didn't change a lot, the whole feeling invokes Spring. In this formerly mostly-white bedroom (as we remember it from last year), they added crisp, bold leaf-patterned blinds, a colorful quilted bedspread and chunky orange knit throw to the bed (these bright throws from Utility Canvas would be a fun idea). The bright green of the throw pillow is a shade we've been scouring for an area rug (like this one) We also love the small colorful artwork throughout, and what looks like Josef Frank upholstery on the chair. Not to mention the playful vintage floor lamp.

Since last season they freshened the upholstery on the dining room settee. I think the sofa in the living room looked like that before, but it looks like they updated the chandelier, adding colored shades like these. The kitchen looks the same but was already crisp and cheery — we remember loving the pendant lights with cheerful birds hanging from them. We just wish they wouldn't have painted over the blue painted stair runner!
