We moved into our new home just over two years ago and immediately decided on creating a playroom for our kids. The only room available for such a space was what once served as a server room/home office for the old owners.
Little by little we renovated the room and purchased furnishings on somewhat of a small budget. We kept the room light and bright, in a gender neutral color scheme with elements similar to those that can be found throughout the rest of our home (shell chairs, hide rug, framed photos, etc.).
Our favorite part of this room is the wall mounted book shelves, which are within reach of the kids and fill an empty wall without taking up too much space. Someday, many of these furnishings will be replaced with video game consoles, musical instruments and what not. But for now, we are enjoying spending time in this cozy place, while our kids prepare us the most delicious wood and plastic meals!

Nomade Express Slee...
the wall shelves are my favorite too! where are they from??
Are those little Eames Sidechairs?
What a sweet space you've created for your little ones! I have that same color on our nursery walls...which was originally for my daughter and is now for my son. I love it so much. Where did you get the book shelves?
This is one play room that actually looks like a kids playroom. Great job.
Thank you SO much!!!!
The wall shelves are from pottery barn, they were our biggest splurge but I did manage to find them on sale. The plastic shell chairs were purchased at Room Service Store.

I really appreciate all the kind comments!!!
Brilliant idea to use a condiment holder as a crayon holder! I'm stealing that idea TONIGHT when I get home from work! Thank you!
What a wonderful creative space!
Love the book shelving and all the storage cubbies. Think a table without shelves, where kids could pull up a chair and put their feet under the table is a better option - for their work, their posture, and avoiding paint spills - that table looks wicked uncomfortable to sit at. Kids are artists - no "in training" about it (and only they get to decide whether they want to seriously train for that profession later.)
Thank you for the kind comments.
Had budget not been a huge factor, we could have purchased a tulip style table, with a base in the center. But, this table was gifted and we are grateful for it! Plus, painting is always done outside, so not worried about spills ;o)
What color did you paint the room?
I love what you did to the playroom. It looks amazing!
The paint color is "Gossamer Sky" by Valspar.
Thanks!
I am loving the bookshelves and I want them! Where did you purchase them???
I would love to know where those book shelves are from too! I have a similar space to fill and would love to pick some up.
