We have a friend who's so tiny she frequents the teen department for basic items like t-shirts and shorts. She says the styling and the cuts are comparable to what's made for adults -- and the price tags are much better.

With her clever frugality in mind we sometimes haunt places like PB Teen to see what might do double duty in more adult rooms. And we're often pleasantly surprised by what we find, both in terms of design and affordability.

A good example is PB Teen's Adjus-table, which takes a design cue from the more sophisticated and expensive Eileen Gray table but adds a dose of cheerful but still subtle color (white, navy, pink and pool).

This little table speaks to the way we live: casually, with any comfy chair (along with our laps) subbing for more formal eating and working setups. So we really like the idea of a small pull-up table that will take the laptop or the dinner plate off our laps.

PB Teen's table is $79. Available here.
