a.DOT: Architects Doing Other Things

Have you ever wondered, "If I could pick another profession, I would be...." If so, Chicago Women in Architecture want to hear from you! In light of the changing field and the challenges facing architects during this economy, the CWA is hosting an exhibition to showcase 30 women who have redefined their career by Doing Other Things.

The Chicago Women in Architecture is accepting entries for the a.Dot exhibit and will show 30 selected works. Women with a bachelor or masters degree in architecture who see themselves Doing Other Things should apply:

&bull You have an education in architecture, but you are Doing Other Things
&bull You were practicing architecture, but you left to Doing Other Things
&bull You were practicing architecture, but now you are Doing Other Things within the profession
&bull You are practicing architecture, but you are Doing Other Things outside of work


After being laid off from a large architecture firm in 2009, Beth Jacob pursued her passion for food and opened her own pastry shop, Macaron Chicago.

Entries are due March 19, 2010, send your statement of intent to CWA president, Mindy Viamontes. If you are selected to show at the exhibit you will be required to submit: a self portrait/headshot, 3-5 images of your work, education information and a 150 word narrative describing your personal journey.

The exhibit will be May 5, 2010 from 5pm-11pm at the AJ Kane Gallery, 119 N Peoria St Unit 2B, Chicago.
