Name: Adrienne
Location: San Francisco
I found both my house and Apartment Therapy at the same time this summer. My husband and I submitted a short sale bid and started the long waiting process. In the meantime, I developed a friendly relationship with the previous owner. Her design influence, Apartment Therapy, and a thrifty budget were in mind during the six month waiting period to get the house.
Since I'd been living in 800 square feet and was now moving to 1500 without a ton of extra money, I had to be creative. I scoured your pages, daydreamed (ok, maybe I obsessed) about the house. Since moving in a month ago, I've painted, re-used and updated my furniture, gotten some great deals from friends, and found out that one can of bold apple green paint can go a long way.
Thanks, Adrienne!

Sprout Side Table
(sigh) Looks perfect to me. :-)
I love the green tablecloth.
What's the name of that green paint? It's exactly what I'm looking for! Thanks!
the place has amazing bones! please don't change them...especially the kitchen and fireplace. lovely.
Your vintage kitchen is adorable!
Holy crap. I want this place. The bones ARE amazing! I'd die to have a home that has this much character in it, where we are though? It would never happen... places that nice tend to be in bad neighborhoods or too far from my husband's school. *sigh* I will keep dreaming though! :D
that pic of the owls is so cute! anyone know where I can find one?
What a wonderful home--and in Japantown, no less. Makes me really miss the Bay Area (sigh). I especially love how you used color to update the vintage kitchen without losing any of its character. Kudos on making your new house feel like a home within a month's time!
i'm in love with your kitchen! so sweet!
Thank you so much for the feedback! I'm blushing.
We love the bones of the place, too, and are so appreciative that it's never been updated. We promise to honor it's cracks, curves, and chips.
Monkeyhippy1, the green paint on the kitchen secretary and in the window wall of the hang out room is Apple 6 from Valspar.
Plumeria, the owl art was made by my 2nd grade students. I could commission them to make you one, too.
I too like the kitchen! Love the little pop of green on the secretary! It looks so fun and a great place to hang out with great friends & food! Congrats on your new house!
