Lisa Versacio over at Brocade Home was nice enough to send us advanced pages of the upcoming catalog. Though their line doesn't necessarly fall in line with AT's modern esthetic they do a swell job with their styling [love the plates on the wall]

and the "Paris Apartment" look all together. Personally, we like the square back chair [first photo] $349, the addition of silver as one of their theme colors, and the tuffed version of the cube [purple] $169. According to Lisa, their e-commerce site launches in March [phone orders are available] and the new catalogs will be arriving in the first week in Feburary.

I really like some of their stuff, but worry about the quality. I know they have no brick & mortar stores, but I wish they would consider renting some space for a month in a few major cities just so people could see & touch things before ordering.
I'm happy with the bed they sold me. Solid oak. Easy assembly. Wicked quick delivery.
i bought a chandelier, a white mirror and an upholstered chair from their fall catalog and absolutely love it!!!! it mixes beautifully w/my predominatly modern space--the two little touches completely transformed the room. the quality is great for the price--as good as they looked in the catalog, they looked even better in person!!

Are these comments real?
Almost all the previous Brocade comments were hating them for poor craftsmanship/build quality...
then all of sudden Apt therapy gets an exlusive and "everyone" is gushing...
Why do these trolls keep coming to AT? Can't they go work their mischief elsewhere?
I've never seen a negative comment about Brocade Home on any of the AT sites. Further, I've posted on my great bed experience in every related thread I could find with links to Flickr pics. Two comments is not "everyone" nor is it gushing.

Glad to know the quality is good and the assembly is easy. I'm really bored with the overly-precious, line-for-line mid-Century (or any kind of Modern) "period" rooms. They're every bit as deadening and unimaginative as that faux-Colonial on powder blue carpeting crap I grew up with - and antithetical to the spirit of Modernism to boot. A good room takes from a variety of sources including old, new, cheap, high-end, junk shops and garage sales. I live in a mid-Century high-rise, I'm a guy, and there are several pieces in that catalogue that would look great in my place.
Those comments were based on the photos in the post or the catalog, not on actual sampling of the merchandise. Supposition cannot be taken as valid feedback.
My statement is dead serious and someone over on decor8's blog mentioned buying a chair, mirror and chandelier. They were happier with all three than they anticipated when ordering.
i love this catalog--wish they had stores though! did u notice that the negative comment maker's name is HAT3R...ironic, no? maybe it's someone from the "competition"!!!!
brocade home..keep up the good work--can't wait for my spring catalog!
One thing they NEED is a website that you can order from, zoom in on product, etc.
I have the last catalog and enjoyed it, though there wasn't anything I had to have. I'm willing to give them a try - they do take returns, I'm sure.
i read somewhere recently that they were launching an ecommerce site in march, which would be great fyi...
The had better get a better website soon! it's killing me.
Hey Richele,
You mentioned the plates which are the work of indie designer Sarah Cihat (one of our blog faves for eco-design). Sarah buys them from the Salvation Army or neighborhood Goodwill, and refashions them into rockin' dishware. She's the perfect example of how going green can be edgy and modernist. How cool is that?
Her site is www.sarahcihat.com. I wish I had dough to collect them myself! Thanks for your post.
does anyone know where those great plates are from?
the more antiquey (or fake antiquey) in stark white rooms & modern mix thing has really grown on me maybe bcuz of its harkening to the end of 2001, sort of...or maybe bcuz of what a susceptible fool i can be--despite having more modern leanings, sometimes what i've been looking @ the most, if done well, can be seductive.
but i wonder if it also makes anyone else, bcuz of the 2001 feeling, also not dig it.
or if i'm off the mark again.
I really liked the fall catalog-the pink and brown were my favorite! But, now the things in this catalog are white! I was trying to get away from white! I hope the catalog after this one has more brown and pink....I redid my whole room to match the things from Brocade, but as soon as I tried to order...they said they were no longer in stock! BUMMER!!! I would have gotten a lot more things if they weren't on backorder!
