We checked in with Delia over at Delia Creates as she's been busy formulating all sorts of fun holiday advent ideas. She talks about things from giving different holiday books each day, and packs of gum, but my favorite idea was this simple gold box. What's inside? Well one of three things, though potentially all of them depending on the family schedule for the day.

• A treat
• A fun activity to do that day
• An act of service

Each day Mom puts a little note or treat inside the box and hides it somewhere in the house. It's a race each morning for the kids to find it and see what's inside. We think it's a great way to have the fun of an advent calendar without being married to any one idea, allowing you to go with the flow of the holiday season and what it brings into your lives each day.
