During our Escapes month on AT:The Nursery, we are posting great photos and tips for traveling with children from our readers. Please check here for all the details. The first twenty submissions posted will receive the official AT bib. Hope to hear from you soon!
Now that is a happy baby! This picture was taken in a park in Madison, Wisconsin, and Myrna is clearly having a fabulous time! Myrna's parents have a few great tips for keeping your own baby happy while traveling, below:
• Bring your own carseat if possible, because car rental companies' seats in the U.S. are horrible.
• Buy diapers and other supplies once you arrive at your destination rather than lugging them around with you (just pack enough to get there, plus a bit extra in case of delays).
Favorite child-friendly activity in Madison?
The best kid-friendly thing to do in Madison is the free zoo. It's just the right size to spend a couple of hours, rather than the all-day odysseys of larger zoos.
Your favorite way to make it feel like home?
To help facilitate sleep in hotel rooms, we bring the small noise-machine that we use in the nursery at home (ocean sounds, heartbeat, etc.).
Must-have travel item?
We bring her favorite stuffed animal on trips, again to help with sleeping.
Thank you, Shawn, for sharing your tips and advice for traveling with kids!
Don't forget to send us your favorite family escape!
