Adventures and Outings: Boston, in Rhode Island

During our Escapes month on AT:The Nursery, we are posting great photos and tips for traveling with children from our readers. Please check here for all the details. The first twenty submissions posted will receive the official AT bib. Hope to hear from you soon!

24 month old Boston is clearly at home on an east coast beach. Here she is, enjoying the sights while visiting family in Newport, RI, at Easton's Beach (more commonly referred to as First Beach by locals). Below, Boston's mom Megan shares some of her travel tips.

Favorite child-friendly activity:
Being "The Ocean State," R.I. obviously has lots of beaches to choose from, but First Beach has a carousel, a small playground, and is within walking distance to a clam shack called Flo's, which serves the fattest-bellied fried clams around. Even Boston tried a few.

Travel tips:
Relax! Don't go into it with Clark Griswoldian-like expectations. Just play each day by ear.

Your favorite way to make it feel like home?
Try to stick to the same routines as home, like naptimes and bedtime

Must-have travel gear:
Lollipops for takeoff and landing on the airplane and a cheap, lightweight stroller, like a Chicco. Leave the Bugaboo at home--the baggage handlers will mangle it.
