Names/Ages: Finley (3)
Vacation Location: Myrtle Beach

Favorite Baby or Child Friendly Activity There: We first discovered the Springmaid Resort on Myrtle Beach last year when I signed up for a continuing education meeting hosted there. The resort has a cafeteria style restaurant and our meals were included in the room fee. It also has several pools, including "lazy rivers" and fountain features for children. It is also right on the beach and also has really long fishing pier. The resort is not fancy, but I think that actually makes it more kid friendly, not to mention affordable....

....This year was our second year going and several of my classmates from vet school were there. When you are with a large group of families that know each other, taking care of the kids is so much easier; there is always some adult watching out. Our daughter especially liked the lazy river. It was like having a mini-water park literally right outside of our room.

Best Tip for Traveling with Kids: Plan for pit stops, especially when you have a toilet trained child. Last year, Finn was still in diapers and she was not asking to stop to use the toilet every couple of hours. Also, carrying the anti-bacterial wipes to help clean the gas station bathrooms is handy.
Making it through the gas station store, with all of the little candy displays and souvenirs can be difficult. Before going in, let your child(ren) know your expectations. Have "high value" item in the car, like a favorite car or dvd/game to use as incentive to get in and get out without your kid trying to grab everything in sight.

Favorite Way to Make it Feel Like Home: We always take our own pillows and Finn gets her own blanket.

An Item you MUST Take With You While Traveling: We didn't think to do it this year, but next year, we will be taking our baby potty. That way, Finn can have a "pit stop" literally anywhere.

Thanks, Kate!
