During our Escapes month on Ohdeedoh, we are posting great photos and tips for traveling with children from our readers. Please check here for all the details. We thank you all for your wonderful tips.
Here we have Carly, 2, taking in the view on the dock at the Rock on the shores of Lake Michigan. We can also feel the great lake breeze hitting us, too. Let's read what words of wisdom mom, Sara, has to share...
The city and location the photo was taken in:
Elk Rapids, Michigan.
Your favorite baby or child-friendly activity there: The annual Harbor Days celebration combines the best of summer fun for kids with small town charm on a beautiful setting.
Your best tip or words of wisdom for traveling with kids: We drove 14 hours with Carly & Sully (our golden retriever) to get to Lake Michigan and employed an "anything goes" attitude to keep us all sane. Lollipops, multiple dvds, full access to window control, singing at screaming volume (Carly, not us), and binkies (to mute the singing when it became painful) made the trip a breeze.
Your favorite way to make it feel like home: Because we were driving, we had room to pack a bunch of Carly's stuffed animals. Her entourage kept her safe and sound at bedtime.
An item you MUST take with you when traveling: A sense of humor.
