Frances enjoyed boating, bird-watching and bugs in Lake of the Woods in Ontario, Canada. Her mom's advice: don't sweat the small stuff.
The city and location the photo was taken in: The photos show Frances at Lake Ottermere in Lake of the Woods, Ontario, Canada. She loved the boat - when she didn't fall asleep she laughed and laughed.
Your favorite baby or child-friendly activity there: Nature! Frances loves animals of all kinds and is happiest watching birds, squirrels, chipmunks, dogs, fish, bugs, and any other wildlife run around.
Your best tip or words of wisdom for traveling with kids:
My big thing when camping or cottageing is to plan for her independently of the big people but not sweat the small stuff. I don't worry so much about exact nap or meal times but if she seems tired or hungry I just go ahead and put her down or feed her, no matter what everyone else is doing. If that means pausing mid-hike or having a little timeout at the beach we just go ahead and do that. We do warn other people that we might be traveling with that that's the way we do things so everyone knows what to expect.
The funny thing is that is totally opposite to how I am at home where routine is everything. :-)
Your favorite way to make it feel like home:We bring one of her favourite toys and a bunch of her books but overall "home" for Frances right now is mommy and daddy so if we're there she's okay.
An item you MUST take with you when traveling:
Honestly, here's nothing we really find indispensable - if we have our wallets and passports (if needed) then we're golden. I do like her full body swim suit and LOVE her Kinesys (made here in Vancouver) kids sunscreen.
