Adventures and Outings: Kids A-Plenty at Carrabelle Beach

During our Escapes month on Ohdeedoh, we are posting great photos and tips for traveling with children from our readers. Please check here for all the details. The first twenty submissions posted will receive the official AT bib. Hope to hear from you soon.

This photo shows just two members of the pack of kids that brave mom Meaghan traveled with to Carrabelle Beach, Florida. In addition to her own progeny, she also hooked up with her brother-in-law's brood of four girls! She reminded us that "kids do great, always better than we think they will!" (Under stress, repeat this as often as necessary.)

Our favorite/only activity: Falling out the front door onto the private beach. It's called the Forgotten Coast, and it was very quiet and affordable.

My wisdom for traveling with kids: Be flexible and chill out! We thought that by flying to Florida instead of driving would be so great. Little did we know, a hurricane was causing terrible delays in Atlanta. Instead of driving 18 hours, it took 18 hours to fly, including sleeping in the airport lobby with a 6 month old and a 3 year old!

How to make it feel like home: We don't go very far to make it feel like home when we're on vaca. We kind of like being vagabond gypsies. The kids do great, always better than we think they will!

My must-have, though? The kids' sound machines!
