I knew I was committed to my man when I learned to ski. I may have been a "what's snow?" SoCal girl when we met, but he grew up racing down unmarked trails and jumping off cliffs in Tahoe. Now, our winter weekends go like this: Get up really early to head up to the mountain and fall into bed exhausted after the drive home. If only we had something like Aerin Lauder's stunning Aspen escape.
The beauty entrepreneur's new ski chalet, featured in Vogue, pairs luxury with simple comfort. Designer Daniel Romualdez lined parts of the interior with reclaimed cypress boards and wire-brushed oak, a soft contrast to all-white walls and elegant modern furniture from George Nakashima and Hans Wegner. It's cozy and chic, even with all that ski gear piled up by the door.
I'm tucking these pics away for my fantasy life. More realistically, I'll cling to the dream of owning a tiny cabin in the mountains someday. This decorating inspiration could go a long way in any space, humble or haute.

Shaw's Original Fir...
i want to melt into this home with a cup of cocoa immediately
I saw this in Vogue and initially was very impressed. We are in the process of building a modern cabin and I was inspired by many of these rooms. But then I saw they have actual coyote skins for decorating and i couldn't get past it. I love our coyotes that gather on our land and howl every night. The coyote carcasses ruined it for me.
I also dislike the use of fur in the decoration of this chalet.
Stunning! Not a fur fan, but the rest of the place is jaw-dropping.
I like the fur, it's more ethical than destroying the planet and wildlife habitats to make synthetic materials. So much pollution and so many animals still die as a result of synthetic materials. It's not like I relish the thought of animals being killed for fur but the world isn't so black and white.
sorry @richelle, but it is black and white when it comes to the fur trade. if it were cow hides from a cow that was slaughtered for its meat then that is one thing that can at least be justified by some (although still not being showcased in my home), but the killing of animals simply to decorate your home is barbaric, disgusting and serves zero purpose
take the animal activism to peta folks. stunning "chalet", i wonder if aerin would considering doing a house swap for my one bedroom ground floor for the holidays?
Yikes, the coyote fur is just plain creepy.
