Australian skincare brand Aesop has teamed up with architect Jeremy Barbour at Tacklebox to create a unique shopping experience in Grand Central Terminal. 1,800 issues of The New York Times were pressed into hard blocks making great use of recycled materials and celebrating the unique location of the shop.
The newsprint solids hang from the ceiling as decoration and also function as display surfaces for the company's products. They are interspersed with powder-coated steel blocks and countertops. We love the texture created by the edges of the tattered newspapers bundled together, and of course the ingenious reuse of existing materials.
