It's not often you find the perfect blend of local art and affordable handmade accessory, but we think we've done it with the gorgeous ceramic work of artist Melanie Schopper. If your space needs small and affordable pops of color, these could be for you!

These adorable ceramic bowls, cups and vases are not only good-looking, they're endlessly useful. We've spotted them on desks holding pencils in an office, holding flowers on a kitchen window ledge and even holding toothbrushes in a bathroom. We've even spotted them in a house tour! With prices from $8 to $22 each, you can actually afford to get more than just one. Hand crafted and painted, we love that each one is unique with slight artistic variations and details. The simple pieces come in various colors and also black and white stripes. With the holiday season just around the corner, these could also make great gifts! You can find Melanie Schopper's ceramic cups and bowls at Austin Handmade, Austin's Women and Their Work gallery and various shows throughout the year, like Handmade Austin Women's annual show.

What do you think of Melanie Schopper's ceramic pieces? Do you have a favorite ceramic artist who has affordable work? Let us know!
