Q: Hi Apartment Therapy! I can't believe I went so long without you guys coaching me on interior design. The background: I'm moving into my first, bought, apartment, so I've been going furniture mad. I went to a showroom and saw a table that was perfect for me — alas, it was 1000 and waaay outside my price range…
I was lucky, though; I searched eBay and found the *exact* same table, brand new, just down the road for a tenth of the price! I snapped it up nice and quickly. Unfortunately, like the table, the chairs from Ercol are far to pricey for me. Nothing really touches the style of the piece:
So my question: What kind of chairs do I put with it? My budget is small but I can't really buy rubbish now that I have such a good quality table. The flea market isn't as fruitful as it appears to be in the US. The pic is of the same model of table but isn't mine, and the picture doesn't truly reflect the full awesomeness of it.

Shaw's Original Fir...
I am immensely confused by why that table has two different types of legs.
I am a bit confused by the legs too. I can't really figure out what kind of chairs would fit.... are there 4 legs or 6? I think maybe the angle of the picture isn't helping.
Is it oak? I'd recommend any Danish Modern chair with the table. You can find those on Craig's List or eBay too.
I just Googled "Ercol" and wow, thanks for intruducing me to a furniture line I had never heard of before today. It seems that they take traditional designs and then mold them into surreal objects.
I am also confused by the legs, but I like the table regardless. Maybe Westelm's scoop-back chairs would be a nice complement to the shape of the legs, and you wouldn't have to worry about matching the wood tones.
For the perplexed:
It looks like it's a drop-leaf table. It looks like the sides and the slim legs fold flat down, and we're looking at the sturdier set of "main" legs side-on. (The angle of the photo is confusing, I agree!)
I found a better picture that might shed some light on this. The four legs are indeed two different shapes:

I am guessing you are in the UK, is that right?
It's hard to suggest anything without knowing a bit more about your style and how you plan to use the table. is yours the same finish? How many people do you need to sit regularly and occasionally? Will you keep the table unfolded or folded? Do you like new or vintage, and if it's vintage do you like as-new or a bit beaten up?
I have an Ercol casual dining set I inherited from my gran which I love. Without knowing much about what you want, I'd say keep an eye on eBay and look out for the lower backed Windsor chairs, maybe even two chairs and two stools. I wouldn't get the higher backed chairs unless they will be beside a wall as all that wood and curves does clutter up sight lines.
The shape of these is great, but not sure the wood colours would work if yours is the same as the picture.

Any of the armless Loom wicker dining chairs would be nice. That's what I did with my dining table when I couldn't afford the matching chairs: http://www.lloydflanders.com/dining--accessories/dining-chairs
@Duane No problem, are you UK based?
@ConfusedPeeps: Yh it's not a great picture but it was the only one I could find with the same finish. It is a gateleg table. Mostly it will be standing against a wall with one leaf up and one leaf down.
