While photographing local store Collectic Home for last week's store post, we came across a product we had never heard of before. We think this locally-made and eco-friendly product could be the answer to how to bring in flexible and affordable color to your home.
Deco Dots are made of 100% recycled plastic bags and come in a myriad of colors like red hot red, go green, lemon drop yellow, sassy sapphire, snowflake white and more. To answer the question of "what do you do with them" isn't easy; there are many things you can do with these colored dots. Used in flower and plant vases they float, adding a fun layer of color in your vase water. Paired with dried flowers, they can be used to create a layered pop of color in a vase with dried stems, feathers, bamboo and more. Store owners can use them for pops of color in their display cases and we even saw a photo of them being used inside a clear table base.
Austin residents love using succulents and cacti in their homes, and we can definitely see these fun dots being used in those cases. Brainstorming we also thought it could be fun to put them inside glass lamps for color or use them to display jewelry on a dresser. We think they're a little more hip than glass beads and stones that are sometimes used for these purposes, and love the idea of being able to change colors in a space easily for seasons, holidays or just on a whim! Deco Dots sell for $14.50 a container.
What do you think about these Deco Dots? A neat idea or don't get it? Does the eco-friendly aspect to them make them seem more attractive? Can you think of other uses that you could use Deco Dots for? Let us know!
