Q: We live in the city and have an enormous rooftop deck that we'd like to use as an outdoor play area for our 11-month-old daughter and eventually our future kids. The floor is made of incredibly rough concrete (it even tears up our feet!), and we've been looking for kid-friendly outdoor flooring that's affordable and that she can crawl and play on. We hope to find something that will weather well and drain.

We've been looking at rubber playground tiles, but what we've seen costs thousands just to cover a small portion. And a lot of outdoor rugs are sisal, which are still scratchy, or the patterns aren't very modern. Would love to hear from anyone that's had a similar problem or has solutions.
Editor: Does anyone have feedback on Ikea's Platta decking especially with young children? What other ideas do you have for Laurie?
